Eric Bridgeman is a multi-disciplinary artist based Brisbane, Australia. Born in October 1986 in Redcliffe (QLD) to Raymond Bridgeman (from Cracow, Central Queensland) and Veronika Gikope Muka (from Gumine, Chimbu Province, Papua New Guinea).

Bridgeman commenced his Bachelor of Photography at the Queensland College of Art in 2005, majoring in Art Practice under the guidance of Ray Cook, Marian Drew and Jay Younger; and spending his final year in 2008 experimenting in Interdisciplinary Sculpture, which saw the beginnings of his works for The Sport and Fair Play of Aussie Rules (2008/09). In 2008, the Institute of Modern Art (Brisbane) selected this work for inclusion in The New Fresh Cut, giving Bridgeman the exposure and support to further the two-year long project. From this breakthrough opportunity, Bridgeman’s work attracted support and opportunities from organisations and institutions such as Next Wave Festival (Melbourne), Gallery 4A (Sydney), Australia Council for the Arts, Australian Centre for Photography (Sydney) and the University of Queensland Art Museum (Brisbane).

In early 2010 The Sport and Fair Play of Aussie Rules (2008/09) was exhibited at The Australian Centre for Photography and included in the UQ Art Museum’s exhibition and publication 'The State We're In: Contemporary Queensland Photography'.

Following this, Bridgeman will exhibit his new body of photographic and mixed media work New Photographs From Kokwara Trail at Gallery 4A and the Queensland Centre for Photography. For Next Wave Festival in May, Bridgeman will exhibit his series of works on paper Big League Balls alongside video work Gayer Than All The Rest, at Blindside Gallery. In addition to stunts in Sydney’s Mardi Gras and Canberra Contemporary Art Space, Bridgeman will later compete in the prestigious biannual sport and art prize, the Basil Sellers Art Prize held at The Ian Potter Art Museum.
